This weekend was the great rug hunt at our house! We desperately tried to get our house, renovated, decorated and cleaned up for Sunday night Father's Day dinner (the cobbler was awesome btw!).
We've been hunting for rugs all over town and its very difficult to find a stylish, casual, affordable, quality rug that we can both agree on, for under $200. Our living space is very light with 3 windows, but it has a dark fireplace and we have tan walls, hardwood floors and tan furniture. So we need something to break-up the beige.
Here are the choices:

Claire Stripe MatThe top one is thicker, softer and has a rubberized backing so it doesn't need a rug mat, but is it too dark for our light and airy space? Will we still like it in two years? Five years?
The bottom mat is very casual, has more colors in it which gives us more options, but its still mostly beige. Although we would have a lot of options for accessorizing.
