If you think about it, this is the real Independence Day. July 4th is a wonderful celebration of history, of the people who had the courage to fight for what we have today. The first Tuesday in November is a celebration of today and of the future, and the people who choose to have a say in what comes next.
We’re exceptionally lucky to be Americans, despite all of our issues and all of our legitimate frustrations. And today, what we say goes. Happy Election Day! :)
Oh and if you proudly wear your "I Voted" sticker around today, you might just get free Starbucks coffee, a free star spangled Krispy Kreme doughnut, free Ben & Jerry's ice cream and a free sandwich from Chick-Fil-A (but go there last because they'll steal your sticker--I can't find confirmation of this so you'll just have to trust me).
