One mild January Saturday morning, Mom, Big G and I drove the beach for the Sanderling's famous and fabulous Bridal Tasting weekend. Allen wasn't around for it because he had to work that morning. He joined us later--like he would miss out on the food? Yeah Right!
So, on the way down, I had a minor mishap at the gas station where we stopped for a break and gas. My heel on my only pair of tasting-appropriate shoes broke so I had to find a new pair of shoes before the tasting! Thank goodness for J.Crew outlet Barree Station in Duck!
Once the shoe situation was resolved, Mom and I headed to Argyle's to pick out a wedding cake! It took us about two minutes to pick out flavors, fillings and frostings. Allen met us there shortly after we finished, just in time to taste the cake but not actually have any input. LOL. Luckily, he loved our choices!
That afternoon, we relaxed in the Sanderling's main lobby where we feasted on scones and tea. It's so cute! We also peeked through lots of wedding albums they have laying around to get ideas.
One thing about the Sanderling--the rooms are FABULOUS! We didn't have a view but we had a sitting room, two flat screen TVs, a HUGE shower and bathroom area. Even the sheets and pillows were luxurious! If you ever get a chance to stay there, you totally should. I completely forgot to take pictures of any of it. Sorry!
The tasting that night was fabulous and we picked out a wonderful menu that I hope everyone will enjoy. We even discussed the options with the head chef! He really liked our ideas and is excited to cook for our wedding, in preparation for his own wedding in June. My parents are wine enthusiasts so they've hand picked the wines for the wedding with the wine distributors. :)
We met with our planner Nannette the following Tuesday in Chesapeake, VA to pick out everything for the tent, like tablecloths, chairs, chandeliers, etc. It was a perfect halfway point between the beach and Richmond. I absolutely LOVE the chandeliers we chose. They are silver, swirly and kind of look like they belong in a boudoir. :)
We also chatted for two hours at lunch about EVERYTHING! Time lines, programs, Christmas, vacation plans, everything. Having a wedding planner is worth every penny not to have to worry about every little thing! Luckily, we have the BEST!
