Invitations are here!!

I just picked up our invitation envelopes from the stationary store!!

Rather than spending hundreds on calligraphy, we chose to have the stationary store, Papers on the Avenue, print the addresses on each envelope in a really pretty font that mimics the font used in the invitation suite. At $1 per envelope instead of $3 for a calligrapher, we saved $400!!

Especially if you don't have beautiful handwriting and you can't afford a calligrapher, printing the addresses directly on the envelope is a great option. Etiquette says never to use address labels on wedding invitations, so printing them is an easy economical option. You could even do it yourself.

I also went to the post office and purchased the stamps for our invitations! We chose to save some more moolah by not using Zazzle.com stamps like we used on the save-the-dates. Although they were cute, the wedding budget is spiraling out of control at this point and honestly, I've given up caring about what the stamps look like soo... we got the pretty heart stamps! Our envelopes require exactly $1 each to mail, so we chose to use two of the pretty heart stamps (one of each color, side by side) instead of this guy:

Yeah, I like the hearts together better too. So they don't match, but its okay. If you have some time before your invitations or mail needs to go out, the post office attendant was showing me some upcoming postage that is BEAUTIFUL! Honestly, the USPS is stepping it up and introducing wedding ring and wedding cake postage in the next few weeks. They also have some lighthouse postage, which would've been so perfect for us, and exotic fish, which would be so cute for a Jamaican or Caribbean wedding!

FYI--postage goes up $0.01 to $0.43 on May 11 so buy your forever stamps while you can!

If you're getting your invitations ready, here are some great posts to help you out!
