Refinancing

We are in the process of having our mortgage refinanced right now and had our appraisal today. It made us think about all the improvements and changes we have made to the house in the short year and a half that we've lived here:

  • kitchen overhaul
  • tile floors/paint sunroom
  • replace ceiling fan in sunroom
  • overhaul half bath downstairs (new toilet, vanity, mirror, tile floors, storage nook, beadboard wainscoting)
  • replace powder blue toilet in guest bath upstairs (and we listed it on craigslist for free so someone hauled it away for us!)
  • tile, paint and add storage solutions to laundry room/use $20.00 on sale bi-fold louvered doors to hide water heater
  • replace hall and laundry room light fixtures from creepy 70's brass to brushed stainless domes
  • replace outdoor light fixtures from brass to brushed stainless (with motion sensors)
  • replace downstairs door handles from brass knobs to brushed stainless handles
  • replace fence
  • add chandelier to dining room, add chair rail and picture frame moldings.
  • add attic fan (this makes a huge difference in the electric bill in the summer)
  • replace broken side door to a newer, better insulated door
  • changed all the exterior door locks to the same key and with brushed stainless hardware
  • added a programmable digital thermostat

Here's hoping we'll get a great appraisal!!

I am so impressed. Did you do all of this yourselves? You definitely have a keeper there! It is so important to have a "handy" husband.
